JR Kansai Area Rail Pass covered Kansai International Airport, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Kobe and Himeji. If visitors travel within those cities, this is the only pass you needed. Please get unlimited rides on the non-reserved seats on the Kansai-Airport Express, “HARUKA”, and Rapid Service as well as local trains from Kansai Airport to each cities. From March, 2015 the area is to expand to Wakayama, Shiga, Tsuruga and Iga-Ueno!

Eligibility to purchase

  • 1. Foreign tourists who are visiting Japan from overseas for the purposes of tourism on a “Short-Term Stay” visa (holders of foreign passports).”Short-Term Stay” means a stay of 90 days or less for the purposes of tourism, business or visiting friends or family, during which time no paid activities shall be carried out. Seat reservation

  • With the Pass, no additional fee is required when reserving seats.
  • Shinkansen Bullet Trains are not included in the Pass.
  • Non-reserved Ordinary class cars can be accessed freely.
  • In order to travel in first class (Green cars) you will have to pay additional fees.
  • To access the platforms, show your pass to the JR West staff located at the platform gates.
  • To reserve a seat, ask the JR West staff at the ticket office.
  • It is a personal pass. Please always carry your passport when using the Pass as station and train staff may check it.

Refund

    • Refunds on exchange vouchers:

Refunds may be paid on exchange vouchers within one year of the date of issue, but only by the issuing vendor. The refund amount is the sales
price minus the prescribed administration fee and postages fees.

    • Refunds on passes:

If a pass remains valid, a refund on the pass can be picked up at the prescribed pass exchange locations, provided that it is still prior to the starting date of the pass.
The refund amount will be the sales price in Hong Kong dollers, minus 10% plus HKD 100 per ticket.
Please be aware that no refunds whatsoever will be made once the valid period of the pass has commenced.

    • No reissuing:

Exchange vouchers or passes will not be reissued under any circumstances, including loss, theft or damage, so please look after them carefully.

This Kansai Wide area pass covers a much bigger area than other Kansai area pass. This pass is a popular pass for foreign travellers who want to travel outside Kansai, which include Kinosaki Onsen, Shirahama, Kurashiki, and Okayama area. You can get unlimited rides on non-reserved seats on the Sanyo Shinkansen (Including the Nozomi and Mizuho, between Shin-Osaka and Okayama), Limited Express trains, Rapid Service and local trains from Kansai Airport. The area is to expand to Takamatsu and Iga-Ueno for passes valid from March, 2015. *Not valid on the Tokaido Shinkansen (not valid on the Shinkansen between the Shin-Osaka and Kyoto).

Eligibility to purchase

  • 1. Foreign tourists who are visiting Japan from overseas for the purposes of tourism on a “Short-Term Stay” visa (holders of foreign passports).”Short-Term Stay” means a stay of 90 days or less for the purposes of tourism, business or visiting friends or family, during which time no paid activities shall be carried out. Main types of “Short-Term Stay” visa issued in mainland China: “Single-entry visas for Individual Tourists”; “Multiple-entry visas for individual tourists visiting Tohoku Region (Iwate, Fukushima, Miyagi)”; and ” Multiple-entry visas for individuals with a substantially high level of income”

Exchange

  • Within three months from the date the Exchange Order was issued, you must turn in your Exchange Order to obtain your JR WEST PASS (for example, an Exchange Order issued on 15APR would have to be turned in by 14JUL). At that time, it is necessary to specify the date that you want to start using the Pass. It can be any date within three month from the date the Exchange Order is issued.

  • Special exception:

    • Pass-holder may use Himi, Johana, or Nanao lines only if pass-holder does not align from IR Ishikawa Railway (between Kanazawa & Tsubata) or the Ainokaze Toyama Railway (between Takaoka & Toyama).
    • A separate liner-fare is required when boarding the Ainokaze Liner rapid service on the Ainokaze Toyama Railway.

Refund

    • Refunds on exchange vouchers:

Refunds may be paid on exchange vouchers within one year of the date of issue, but only by the issuing vendor. The refund amount is the sales
price minus the prescribed administration fee and postages fees.

    • Refunds on passes:

If a pass remains valid, a refund on the pass can be picked up at the prescribed pass exchange locations, provided that it is still prior to the starting date of the pass.
The refund amount will be the sales price in Hong Kong dollers, minus 10% plus HKD 100 per ticket.
Please be aware that no refunds whatsoever will be made once the valid period of the pass has commenced.

    • No reissuing:

Exchange vouchers or passes will not be reissued under any circumstances, including loss, theft or damage, so please look after them carefully.

  • The Sanyo-San’ in-Northern Kyushu Pass Exchange Order is valid for three months from the date of issue. You must exchange it at an Sanyo-San’ in-Northern Kyushu Pass Exchange Office (in Japan) within these three months in order to receive your Sanyo-San’ in-Northern Kyushu Pass. If you fail to make the exchange within these three months then you will not be able to receive your pass.
  • To exchange the voucher for the Pass you will need your passport.
  • The start date of the Pass can no longer be changed once the voucher has been exchanged.

Validity

  • Unlimited travel for ordinary car reserved seats on the limited express trains (Shinkansen included), express trains, and local trains from Kansai area (including Chizu express line) to Northern Kyushu Area.
  • Unlimited travel on Miyajima Ferry of JR West, JR West Bus (Route Bus), JR Chugoku Bus (Route Bus)
  • However, the pass is not valid on the Nanatsu in Kyushu, some trains, JR Kyushu bus, B&S Miyazaki

Booking

  • Non-reserved Ordinary Class cars can be accessed freely. 
  • To access the platforms, show your pass to the JR staff located at the platform gates. 
  • To reserve a seat, ask the JR Kyushu or JR West staff at the the ticket office. 
  •  It is a personal pass. Please always carry your passport when using the Pass as station and train staff may check it.
